If you are like me and you love taking pics and videos while hiking, below you will find 5 pieces of gear that I always carry when I hike that improved my hiking photos and videos.
TRIPOD:
Since I have started to use the tripod my pics and videos improved a lot.
I use this small and super light tripod from Manfrotto with this extra-light phone holder.
If I go for short hikes or I don’t mind the extra weight I also carry this clamp mount. Useful, when I need to shoot things in flat lay (recipes) and I can attach it to tree branches.
DRONE:
Not essentials, BUT…the shoots you can take with it are priceless and it is worth the extra weight!
I use Mini Mavic 2 from DJI. It is super light and very easy to use.
It records in 4K, so your videos will look just perfect.
ACTION CAMERA:
For all the shots you want to take around waterfalls or the ocean!
I find also very handy when I want to shoot time lapse or slo-mo videos.
I have a Gopro 8.
But thinking to switch to Insta 360
POWER BANKS:
I always carry at least one power bank. Even if I go for a half a day hike. Just in case I need to charge my GPS/beacon, phone, camera, drone and so on.
DRY BAGS:
You never know how the weather will turn out on top of a mountain, so be prepared and store all your electronics in dry bags.
I use Sea to Summits ones, BUT any good quality dry bag will work.
I do carry an 8L so I can fit everything in there.
