My Gear List for Multi day Hikes in Italy

What I Pack on Multi Day Hikes

When you’re heading out for a multi-day hike, what you pack can make or break your adventure.

Over the years, I’ve learned that striking the perfect balance between essential gear and lightweight packing is key to enjoying every step of the journey.

Whether you’re trekking through the rugged Dolomites, exploring Tuscany’s rolling hills, or discovering hidden trails in Abruzzo, having the right items in your backpack ensures you’re prepared, comfortable, and ready to take on whatever the trail throws your way.

In this post, I’m sharing my go-to packing list…

Catch you outside,

Elena

Sleeping System

  • Sleeping Bag: I always prioritize warmth and packability, and the Ferrino Lightech 1200 Duvet is my go-to. It’s lightweight yet warm enough for chilly nights under the stars.
  • Tent: A reliable, ultra-lightweight tent is a must for multi-day treks. The Ferrino Piuma 2 Tent strikes the perfect balance between durability and weight, making it ideal for solo or duo adventures.
  • Sleeping Pad: For a good night’s rest, I use the Ferrino Air Warm Mat. It keeps me insulated and provides just the right amount of cushioning.
  • Liner: For extra warmth and cleanliness, I always bring the Ferrino Comfort Liner Mummy. It’s lightweight and easy to wash, making it perfect for longer trips.

Backpack

A good pack makes all the difference on multi-day hikes. The Ferrino Finisterre 40 Lady is my trusted choice. Its 40L capacity is perfect for carrying all my essentials while keeping the weight evenly distributed.

Clothing Essentials

When it comes to clothing, layering is key. Here’s what I pack to stay comfortable in varying conditions:

  • Base Layers: A lightweight, breathable t-shirt like the Ferrino Kasai T-Shirt is perfect for day hikes.
  • Bottoms: I love the versatility of the Ferrino Hervey Shorts for warmer days.
  • Fleece Layer: For cooler mornings or evenings, the Ferrino Yasuni Jacket adds warmth without bulk.
  • Rain Protection: A waterproof layer is non-negotiable. The Ferrino Kunene Jacket keeps me dry most of the times, during sudden downpours I use ponches.

Headlamp and Powerbank

A dependable light source is crucial for early starts or late-night setups. The Nitecore Headlamp I pack is lightweight, rechargeable, and has adjustable brightness settings, perfect for navigating in the dark or reading in the tent.

Keeping your devices charged is essential for navigation, photography, or emergencies. The Nitecore Power Bank I use is compact yet powerful enough to recharge my phone and headlamp multiple times. I look for lightweight options with high capacity to avoid extra weight in my pack.

Water System

Staying hydrated is non-negotiable, especially on challenging trails. I use the Nalgene water bottles, which are perfect for refilling on the go from streams or natural water sources.

Cooking System

Cooking at camp doesn’t need to be complicated. The Camping Pot is my go-to for preparing meals, whether it’s boiling water for dehydrated food or cooking pasta after a long day of hiking. It’s lightweight, durable, and easy to clean, but also very cheap!

Packing for a multi-day hike might feel overwhelming at first, but with the right gear and a bit of preparation, you’ll be ready to tackle any trail. Every item I’ve listed here has been tested on my adventures, and they’ve made all the difference in keeping me comfortable, safe, and efficient on the trail.

Remember, the key is to pack smart—stick to essentials, avoid overpacking, and prioritize quality gear that suits your specific needs (ESPECIALLY SHOES!!!!) and the environment you’ll be exploring.

If you’ve got a favorite piece of gear or a must-have I didn’t mention, let me know in the comments!

Catch You Outside,

Elena
