The perfect savoury grab and go snack for when you hike.
INGREDIENTS:
You will only need one ingredient! BACON, I have used short cut bacon as it hasn’t much fat.
To learn how to make this recipe, you can watch this video, or keep reading below!
At Home:
Cook the bacon and when it is ready, so it changed from pink to brown and the fat has render out, place it upon a paper towel so that the fat can be removed. It is important to remove the fat so it will last for longer and won’t go rancid.
When you are dehydrating high fat items, remember to consume them soon in order to prevent them to go rancid. If you want them to last longer store them in the freezer until shortly before consumption.
Cut the cooked bacon in stripes and place them on dehydrator tray.
Let them dry at 155*F/68*C….. for 7/8 h or until very crispy.
Store your bacon bites in a ziploc….
* As always I m using these reusable and more durable ziplocs…, but if you use the disposable ziplocks, make sure you reuse them multiple times…you can wash them and let them dry…
On Trail:
…and enjoy!
