1. ‘My boyfriend went to pee, so he must be just a few minutes behind me.’ – Whether he’s in the next valley or not, he’s ‘right around the corner.’
2. ‘No, I’m hiking with my other 25 personalities.’ – They’re all better company than I’d admit. 😂
3. ‘I’m meeting up with a group at the next rifugio.’ – Even if it’s just me, I’m always “waiting for my crew.” 😉
 It’s all about staying safe and keeping things light when you’re out in nature solo!

These cozy spots are scattered all over the trails—sometimes in the most unexpected places—because, let’s be honest, Italians can’t hike without rewarding ourselves with a hearty plate of polenta e salsiccia (polenta with sausage) or a steaming bowl of pasta al ragù. A rifugio isn’t just about food though; it’s an experience.
Picture yourself sitting on a wooden terrace, surrounded by panoramic mountain views, sipping a glass of red wine, and enjoying homemade dishes that taste like pure comfort.

Let’s talk about Infernots—one of Piedmont’s most fascinating hidden gems.
In the tiny village of Cella Monte, deep beneath the historic houses, you’ll find Infernots—underground cellars dug entirely by hand into a special type of rock called “Pietra da Cantoni.”
These chambers, built centuries ago, were never used for simple storage but for something far more special: aging wine in perfect, natural conditions.
They are completely dark, naturally ventilated, and maintain a stable temperature year-round—ideal for preserving Piedmont’s finest wines. It’s no surprise that these unique cellars have been declared UNESCO World Heritage.
But here’s the best part: they are hidden beneath homes, passed down through generations, and only a few lucky visitors get to see them. This is the kind of authentic Italy that many travelers miss and that I want to show you.

Packing for a multi-day hike might feel overwhelming at first, but with the right gear and a bit of preparation, you’ll be ready to tackle any trail.
Every item I’ve listed has been tested on my adventures, and they’ve made all the difference in keeping me comfortable, safe, and efficient on the trail.
The key is to pack smart—stick to essentials, avoid overpacking, and prioritize quality gear that suits your specific needs (ESPECIALLY SHOES!!!!) and the environment you’ll be exploring.
Remember, not all the gear I use will suits everyone. WHY? Because we are all different and we all have preferences. So, make conscious decisions when buying pieces of gear. Don’t just buy them because you see them on my posts or online.

This trail isn’t for the faint of heart, but the payoff? Absolutely breathtaking.
Here’s what to expect: 🗺 Distance: 7 km ⛰ Elevation Gain: 450 m 🚶‍♀️ Challenge: 1,000+ steps leading you down to this tiny fishing village perched above the sea.
💡 Tips for the Trail:
* Wear proper hiking shoes (the steps are steep and uneven).
* Bring plenty of water, especially in summer.
* Take your time—the views along the way are spectacular!
